Wipeout Paintings

My body of gestural paintings is defined by bright color palettes and layered applications of paint that evoke the movement, light, and ethereal qualities of water. This abstracted style first emerged in 2018 as a symbolic language to process feelings of connection, impermanence, and healing while displaced during the Kīlauea volcanic eruption. Since then, water has become a central metaphor in my work — a way to explore the fluid, ever-changing nature of the human condition. Inspired by ocean environments like point breaks, coral reefs, and underwater geological forms, my paintings are deeply informed by lived experience.
